TIPS + TRICKS TO SETTING A TABLE
1. When mapping out a floorplan, be sure to leave a sufficient gap between the tables and surrounding chairs or obstructions so that your guests and waitstaff can move freely around your space. As a general rule, leaving 1.5 metres – 2 metres between each table edge should give you ample space for people to push out their chairs and for people to walk between.
2. The number of chairs that can be seated at each table will depend on the style of chair being used.
As a general rule you should allow at least 60cm for each guest.
3. A handy rule to keep in mind; solids to the left, liquids on the right. Keep your bread and butter plate on the left if not placing on the dinner plate, and all drinking glasses on the right. Your napkin, if not placing in the centre of your plate goes to the left of the fork.
4. Always set your knives facing inwards towards the dinner plate.
5. Opting for a styled dining setting with florals or centrepieces? We highly recommend using a 1.2m wide table in this instance to allow sufficient room for the styling elements, flowers and of course, wine!
6. Keep in mind, the higher the centrepiece the more difficult it will be for your guests to interact from opposite sides of the table.
7. Are you considering a shared menu? Be considerate of centrepieces and flowers as you will need to allow for larger shared platters to be placed on the tables without obstruction.

There are many sizes when it comes to cafe and dining tables, often we are asked how many people can be seated at a table for an event. Below we have provided a seating guide on how many standard chairs you may seat around each sized table. Keep in mind that the width of the chairs, and how much space you estimate each guest will need, will play a large role in working out seating plans. As a general rule on a rectangular / square table, we recommend you allow at least 60cm per guest.
